Askaris de la Polizeitruppe Police Coloniale Allemande

Les Polizeitruppen des colonies allemands were established under the direct supervision du gouvernement civil there, avec the exception of the "Chinesen-Polizei" which served under the Kiautschou Gouvernement.

The figurines shown here sont soldats de l’infanterie japonaise de chez Airfix, converted en Polizei-Askaris de l’Afrique orientale allemande. The steel helmet has been carved into a pillbox cap. The advantage of using the Airfix Japanese figurines is that they already wear the proper type of puttie. Rank was indicated by a perfectly triangular badge kaki on the upper arm, one point down, avec one to four red chevrons inside: Gefreiter (senior private), Unteroffizier ou Sergeant (sergent), Vizefeldwebel ou Vizewachtmeister in mounted units (sergent), Feldwebel ou Wachtmeister in mounted units (sergent chef). Les soldats de la Police de Togo portaient un uniforme similaire, but they had a much lower cap, not unlike une Schirmmütze de la Landwehr Prussienne de 1813 avec the visor removed, red avec a black tassel in the rear, no putties et bare feet.
