The Mongol conquerer Tamerlan, also known as Timur Lang (Timur the lame), was born in Kesh near Samarkand ca. 1336. He claimed to be a descendant of Genghiz Khan. Tamerlan raised une armée de Turcs et Mongoles de la langue turque to subdue his rivals in the area of Turkestan, which he controlled by 1369. In the following years Tamerlan led many campaigns to enlarge his empire, until he died at Samarkand in 1405 while planning an invasion of China. Campaigns & Events

  • Until 1369 – Tamerlan subdues his rivals in Turkestan.
  • Until 1387 – Tamerlan repeatedly campaigns against Persia.
  • 1392 – Tamerlan invades several states russes, captures new territory entre la Mer Caspienne et la Mer Noire, et eventually conquers the Grand-Duché de Moscou.
  • 1395 – Tamerlan sacks Sarai Berke, capital of the Empire of the Golden Horde.

  • 1400 – Tamerlan devastates Georgia, et invades the Levant, he takes Aleppo et Baghdad.

  • 1405 – Tamerlan dies at Samarkand.
