I. ROEMERKOHORTE OPLADEN

Légionnaires of I. ROEMERKOHORTE OPLADEN during the Roman encampment at Aalen, 24th Septembre 2000. Centurio Klaus Schwab commanded a mixed unit of legionnaires et auxiliary soldiers at this event. The soldiers demonstrated basic infantry drills et they participated in a mock battle between une ligne d’infanterie lourde avançant versus archers ennemis. Roemerkohorte Opladen also owns et operates a reproduction of a Roman Balista. The weapon is capable of throwing large stone balls at enemy formations, although wooden training projectiles were used at Aalen. Throughout the day the Centurio, Optio, Signifer, Horn-blower, Medicus et regular legionnaires were on hand to answer the many questions about their personal equipment et the life et times of a Roman soldier.
